A vision and aspiration to bring the wealth of practical knowledge accumulated in the discipline of positive psychology to the Israeli education system inspired the founding of the Maytiv Center. Over the past few years, the Maytiv Center has performed interventions at hundreds of schools and preschools throughout Israel for thousands of teachers and hundreds of thousands of pupils, becoming a leading center on an international scale for the implementation of positive psychology approaches in school systems in Israel and abroad. The Maytiv Center’s educational programs focus on training and empowering educational staff to be key agents of change who take responsibility for creating positive changes in teaching and learning processes at schools. In addition, the teachers are equipped with distinctive programs designed to benefit their pupils by strengthening self-image, social and emotional skills, sense of responsibility and resilience in achieving goals, motivation to learn, ability to learn, and improvements in academic achievements. Our work is based on research regarding practices and rituals that help enhance the well-being of the individual. We strive to incorporate these practices and rituals into the school’s culture and the daily routine of its teachers and students. Our intervention programs for the education system seek to guide time and resources towards addressing the profound meaning of educational activity and emphasize devoting ongoing thought to the emotional development of children and the optimal functioning of teachers and children in the education system. Our programs are translated into English, Spanish, and Arabic and implemented in education systems around the globe.
